MEMPD includes different examples on Multi-criteria tools, which can be used by the building owner to prioritise the environmental and economic aspects in a project. MEMPD requires, indirectly, a cross-disciplinary project management in order to make the tool work optimally.
Many users (consultants, architects, municipalities´ etc.) have developed their own version of MEMPD, in order to make MEMPD more manageable. This gives the companies their "own" concept and a distinction from other companies. Example: NIRAS (2002). Bygherrehåndbog i Miljørigtig Projektering. However, this is in line with the original idea of the concept.
