The original EIA legislation, Directive 85/337/EEC, was passed in 1985 and since reinforced by amendments in 1997 and 2003, and the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (the ´Espoo (EIA) Convention´.

Information on how to complete an EIA is available from many sources, however many EIAs are completed by specialist EIA consultants.

Organisation/s that developed the tool and country of origin
Directives (the original 85/337/EEC, and the following amendments including 97/11/EC) on EIA comes from the European Union, and then have to be enforced through legislation in each member state.

This is a generic tool.
