It is a step towards a more coherent land-planning of wind energy development at the regional scale.

This tool seems to be more efficient than previous options studied before in Belgium and other countries, such as a map considering all possibilities for location, etc. The tool developed seems to be more pragmatic as it focuses on constraints to appreciate where wind-farms projects are excluded or restricted.

Negative comments about the tool
These planning-maps cover the regional territory. The best scale for this kind of analysis would be the local one, because municipalities are involved in the decision-making process, and directly concerned by the economic and social outcomes of wind-farms developments on their territory. Nevertheless, still remains the necessity to coordinate these tools at upper scales of regional and national.
