Tool summaryName of the tool The Sociotop Map Description of the tool The tool focuses on the opportunities for developing qualities to deal with growth and to open up for qualitative change. The Sociotop Map tool complements the accepted concept of the biotope map (ecologically defined environment). The map is created in the following way: 1. Definition and map location of open and green spaces; 2. Expert evaluation of open spaces based on observation with protocols developed from international and national research; 3. Public evaluation through "dialogue activities" (questionnaires, web forms, interviews). The information from (2) and (3) is compiled together into 20 quality-concepts or "socio-cultural values". In that way a place is registered on a sociotop map with its specific composition of qualities. Specific topic The tool refers to the planning of the urban green infrastructure based on new concepts for public interest. Sector/s of use
