Tool summaryName of the tool EiEolienne planning-map Description of the tool The EiEolienne planning-map defines zones on the territory where wind-farms locations are excluded or restricted. The tool is in use (but not legally obligatory) to appreciate if a wind-farm project is pertinent at a place. Landscapes´ indicators have been aggregated with other indicators to set up that map that will support the assessment of the location of a wind-farm project.
This tool focuses on constraints. Other options have been at least considered and some are still under debate, as in many other countries. For instance, first, a map considering all the possibilities for location was thought about but finally rejected as other countries´ experiences showed the results were not relevant enough with regard to the time and money consumed. Afterwards a map analysing the different landscape zones at regional scale has been judged not efficient. Finally, it is a map considering constraints which is in force. This last solution is nevertheless still under debate.
