Tool applicationName of the tool Land use Evolution and Impact Assessment Model (LEAM) Who applied the tool in the case? Kane County, Illinois, is a fast-growing ‘collar-county’ of Chicago. In the 1990s, growth management, environmental protection, open space preservation, environmental protection and inter-governmental co-operation were all critical issues. LEAM was applied to Kane County’s 2020 Land Resource Management Plan in 1996 in order to deal with the above issues. More specifically, the main goal of the simulation is to evaluate the influence of urban growth on water quality and the conservation of agricultural land. (The results can be seen in the paper).
