Tool summaryName of the tool ECOBOXX Description of the tool The toolbox contains tools for evaluation of urban change and its impacts on sustainability. It provides users (decision-makers, urban planners, planners for social services, civil engineer and designers) with: (1) visual information on urban form, functions, economy and ecology; (2) tools needed for solving problems in each particular case. The tools can be helpful in answering three different groups of questions: urban form and functions (estimating the amount of telework potential in a given area, estimating the service level of public transport on a given area, waste management, etc.); urban economics (calculation of urban costs, analysing the effects of a chosen transport system, assessing the economic impacts of a selected location of a new housing area or a shopping centre, etc.); urban ecology (assessing ecological balance of a new housing area, evaluation of the energy consumption under different urban planning or design solutions). Specific topic The toolbox contains elements of both assessment and GIS methodology and enables the user to use them integratively. Sector/s of use
