Tool summaryName of the tool Green Diploma for Housing Associations Description of the tool The Green Diploma (GD) is a certificate for Housing Associations to prove that they work environmentally systematically and goal oriented. GD in a simple way helps to visualise the environmental efforts, and give the association a green profile. It is targeted at the "middle-group" of Housing Associations and Departments, who have the will for environmental improvements, but haven’t got started yet. The Green Diploma has been developed by Danish Centre for Urban Ecology (DCUE) for the Boligselskabernes Landsforening (BL). It is being administrated by DCUE.
Logo of Green Diploma
The Green Diploma includes 3 areas:
• Green Housing Administration
• Green Housing Department (running of buildings)
• Green building and renovation (to be developed)
To achieve the GD the housing association has to
• Develop an environmental plan, including a description of efforts and goals. A minimum of two effort-areas (of 9 possible) have to be chosen.
• Develop green accounts
• Communicate the results
• Develop a general environmental policy (not for the Department).
The demands are described in the manual for the Green Diploma. When the GD is achieved, the Housing Association can use the logo (on letters, websites etc.) for the next two years.
