Any other interesting information about the tool
The Green Alliance has worked for the core set of indicators detailed in the report to be consistent and in many cases complimentary with the wide range of report and indicator initiatives that already exist. These include Global Report Institute (GRI), the World Business Council on Sustainable Development’s (WBSCD) Eco-efficiency indicators, environmental management systems such as the ISO 14000 series and Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), and the UK Government’s series of publications on company environmental reporting. For example, the scope of the GRI work is much broader than this project and intended to be generally applied to all organisation. The GRI is intended to develop and disseminate globally applicable reporting guidelines for voluntary use by organisations reporting on economic, environmental and social dimensions of their activities, products and services. As such the GRI covers, not only social and economic impacts, which this core set of indicators only begins to address, but it also addresses in more detail the framework within which indicators are reported on. However the GRI does not have the sectoral detail of this project. This is a stated agenda of the GRI: to develop sector specific reporting.
